Tofu soup - Protein packed soup

For all those who wants to make sure of their daily protein intake is taken care without adding much fats, this soup is the best option. And if you see there is no cornstarch in this recipe, which makes it free from any carbs. Tofu is the best source of protein as per many studies and it's vegan too, so this soup can be a good option for vegans, if you omit the egg whites ingredient. This is great for those who really look for a protein entry in their diet plan. Also you can see all the ingredients are very much available around and a very easy one to curb your hunger and keep you fit. I would recommend taking this soup once in a week, especially people who works out and needs energy for their muscles. One fact about protein rich diet I would like to share is, how it helps reduce weight and keeps us slim. Protein helps grow muscles, and protein uses most of its calories in its own digestion. So the end result of "calories in" minus "calories out" woul

Besan Rava Ladoo

I am a fan of North Indian sweets even some of them are too sweet for me. Apart from the sweetness the other ingredients are so tempting like, Malai, nuts, and ghee roasted flavors. So this weekend was in a light health mode and all I wanted was to put a break to health for a day and indulge myself in some junks too. The so called "Cheat day". Among the junks I preferred making this ladoos as it cannot be completely named as junk and it's prepared at home too. I can stop me having the other junk foods outside like KFC and all, coz it would end my day up in a huge regret. Homemade foods have the privilege of having a check on how much you have to put each ingredient to make it little guilt free. So for those who does not know, besan is Chick pea flour and Rava is Semolina. Both are great sources of protein and fiber, so these ladoos are great for people who hate besan and rava otherwise as in these ladoos you won't feel the tastes separately. Shelf life is

Spicy Prawns Biriyani

Biriyani, of course the most loved one pot dish of India, and this biriyani is most loved at my home, which has the authentic Malabar biriyani flavor and aroma. Although this is taken from Malabar biriyani concept, I have made some customization to suit to my family's taste. If it is a biriyani day, I am relieved from many of my duties making other side dishes and especially the waiting time in my table to get people for lunch. These days, I don't even have to call my boys for lunch, as the participation would be so proactive, starting from preparation, which in normal days are like waiting for them in the table for half an hour and then the last option to get them to table is raising my voice :P This biriyani is famous among my friends circle too, and has a name too; The 28 ingredient dish. Basically all biriyanis would have all these ingredients, but when I listed the ingredients for the first time, they seem to be overwhelmed by that. Apart from the time taken to gather

Sauteed veggies and dip!

Another recipe which has scored people's mind and I am not forced to post the recipe soon. This is such a simple dish, which cannot be even named as a dish, coz all ingredients are just randomly selected and the veggie day should be filling as well as fulfilling, so just added some ideas for making it ramp ready. As you can see below it is just some very random stuffs chopped and sauteed with bare minimum ingredients. One guarantee from me is, you won't regret preparing this recipe, rather you would appreciate opting this, this simple yet yummy bowl of goodness. This is yet another candidate of my healthy weekends, and of course all the motivation credits I am giving to BigBasket. They were so prompt about the delivery, waking me up the Saturday morning and presenting the fresh lovely veggies and fruits, and you know, that is enough to get that spark to start cooking right away. So checkout this recipe and let me know you loved it! Ingredients: Sauteed Spina

Homemade Granola

I got lot of requests for this recipe and especially all my healthy recipes are getting more pull. I am glad to see that the majority of population are health freaks like me ;) This recipe is one among my master pieces as per me, coz when I had the first bite, or in other words, in the Chef's tasting ceremony, I gave a hifi to myself :D Such an easy recipe which came so good, just like store brought granola, and here I don't have a doubt on ingredients too. I can have it guilt free anytime when I crave for something sweet and is a healthy alternative to my cravings. I had granola before too, but was never a great fan of it. May be because its a packed food, I used to stay away from it. Very lately, actually my US trip has made me a fan of granola, where I was having granola for almost every breakfast there, with lots of cranberries, walnuts and raisins. Oh that was a lovely time. I was missing the granola after the trip all these while. So this week I was runnin

Ceaser Salad dressing - Veg

I tried my first Ceaser salad at this age, as I was not aware of such a salad until this time and I felt I was missing something in my life till then, not knowing this dish. The first trial was from Byli, which is turning out to be one of my favorite places now. It was when my friends came down to stay with me and I was given the job of ordering the dishes before they reach the restaurant. The menu in Byli is so interesting that I can just go over it again and again without getting bored. I would stop at salads section to take a sneak peek always, coz salads are the healthiest option for the big appetite and I love them. I was reading through the ingredients mentioned and my eyes just stopped at one thing. The anchovies! it was written "Sun dried Anchovies". A Malayali would understand the real feeling I guess. For others to know, anchovies are our favorite fish, and treated as one among us rather than a fish ..Lol. I had no idea what the Ceaser name of salad real

Cheesy veggie bowl in salsa

When you crave for Pizza, but want to keep a check on your fitness, this one would be a very good idea. Those who love veggies can get the feel of having a Pizza, but not adding that extra unhealthy calories from the flour crust. The thick layer of veggies and topped with grated cheese (Cheddar is what I used) and with olives, jalapeno and pickled paprika. I had all my favorite veggies in it and they are lightly sauteed before the layering process. I used to think before that, Eggplant is just a healthy vegetable and cannot be grouped under tasty food. I remember my days as a kid hating it and my mom convincing me to eat it saying, "If you eat eggplants you will get nice thick hair", and I would eat for the sake of hair :D See I was beauty conscious from then :P But I was all wrong about you Eggplant; It just turned out to be the tastiest vegetable among my favorites now, and its so flexible that it gets along with any dish, yes I meant it. Recently I had a veg steak
