Kiwi Zucchini Green Smoothie

So my friends in Insta knows my latest madness of smoothie experiments. For others, let me give a context, I have tweaked my diet a bit, as I guess my mornings are becoming exhausting, and with the amount of workout I do I need more fuel start of the day rather than progressing with the day.

So I start my day with a smoothie, which makes sure my veggie and fruit intake is taken care of, a protein shake after workout, and a light brunch when I reach office. My lunch is kept light by grabbing a bowl of fruit. Another factor is I am getting bored eating from office and my inside eagerness to cook wants to try out something.  I wake up now a days in the morning thinking about the smoothies which I am going to have and that keeps me excited to wake up !
So over to the first smoothie I am posting in my blog.
Most of the smoothies I will keep in a calorie range of 100 to 150, as I have 2 more additions in morning diet.

Ingredients :
Kiwi - 1
Banana, frozen - 4 to 5 pieces
Zucchini, cubed - 6 pieces
Lettuce - 2 leaves ( I used Romania today)
Cucumber - 3 to 4 cut into rounds
Dates, pitted - 2 big
Turmeric root - 1 inch (peeled)
Flax seeds - 1 tsp
Coconut water - 1/4 cup
Ice cubes - 5 to 6
I did not use any additional sweetner as dates was included.
Method:
Just whip it up in mixer. Add ice cubes after the other ingredients are ground.
I top up my smoothies with granola, nuts or dry fruits, seeds etc. Keep it in refrigeration until use. You would be amazed that all these veggies can make such a sweet treat for your taste buds.

Grilled Chicken in Quinoa Tortilla wrap

Healthy meal preparation is so satisfying, as we know we are feeding our loved ones with clean food. When I say clean food it does mean, non processed, with balanced nutrients, and not in expense of the taste. These healthy tortilla wraps are so yummy that you will not even imagine it has so many hidden good stuffs in it. I am like my mom, she is too smart to hide the good stuffs in whatever she prepares and we will not even know what we just ate had something which we hate if given in its form. Now I have acquired that smartness too and just few days back I prepared an Avocado Mango smoothie for one of my colleague and she told, "I hate Avocados! My mom would be surprised if she comes to know that I had Avocado. But how yummy your smoothie is ! " I was glad that I could make someone eat a healthy thing which they hated ever, and my hiding skills worked out.  The same lady was fooled by my papaya halwa, she is a papaya hater too :P Fooling people is good som...

Bionico - Mexican Fruit Dessert

I was looking for a dessert which is simple and healthy for today and what came to my mind was Parfait. But the day was Mexican themed and I didn't want to deviate for the dessert part and spoil my theme plan ;) I was looking for similar desserts of Mexican origin, coz I wanted an easy healthy option and has base ingredients which I already have at home.  My search for the recipe ended in this great dessert from Mexico, The Fruit Bionico, which resembles parfait in many ingredients, just some difference in some of them. And I found an interesting factor in it and that strengthened my decision to go on with this. Yes, that is nothing but, our own freshly grated coconut :P Bionico is on sweeter side when compared to Parfait because of its sweetner condensed milk. I had my jars saved from Frozen bottle ice cream cakes, and that helped me to give my Bionico that ramp ready look. After the layers were set up, I was going crazy with the photos, as the beauty was looking so pr...

Soya halwa

Soya halwa or Soyabean halwa, the name itself sounds so healthy and of course whoever would like to have a healthy version of halwa can give a try to this great dessert. I came across this guy very accidently, and if you guys remember my earlier post on Soya milk, this is where the secret talked about in that post getting uncovered. So anyone have any hunch? Ok let me reveal the truth. It was when I was about to throw away the remains of soya milk preparation, I noticed that what I am going to throw away isn't a waste, but having as much as nutrients in soya bean. What if I can preserve it for something, or is there any way I can make a recipe out of it. If you see recently I am doing lots of research on North Indian halwas. So when I say North Indian , it is very much different from Kerala style. What I feel is North Indian halwas are easy to make and doesn't have to be so much conscious about the 2 thread consistency and all, which we have to be very much careful in...
