For the past 1 month I have added soya milk in my diet, not only because of the health fact, but also because of the tasty chocolaty flavor of soyfit milk. When browsing through some pages, I suddenly came across recipe for making soya milk at home, and thought yes I need to give a try. And I am not upset about it, as the result was close enough. Of course the flavors they adds couldn't be replicated, but the outcome was something which made me think about making it my own always.
The best part of it is that it's so economical and took me only couple of ingredients. Yes, white soyabeans and water! Sounds crazy?? I am usually, but I swear that's it what you will need to make this. Just 1 glass of soya beans gained me 1.5 liters of soya milk, and most of you will be knowing soya milk is considered to be vegan, and can be included part of vegan diet. Then why thinking too much about it, go ahead and make this your own and get convinced on what I said.
You would need to add the flavor you like. I added chocolate horlicks, replacing normal milk and it was just a hit. I even used it replacing coconut milk for my hubby's favorite cauliflower curry, and he didn't even realize it until I disclosed the secret.
What you would need as tools are a strainer, mixer or juicer, clean cloth piece and of course tins to store the milk. There is one more secret with this recipe, which is soon going to get revealed in my future posts ;) So stay tuned and be ready to get Awed :P
Ingredients:
Water for soaking
Water to grind - 5 to 6 cups
Method:
Wash well and soak soya beans in water overnight. Strain the soaked water and add fresh water to soya for grinding. If your mixer cannot grind the entire quantity in one shot, grind in batches.
Strain using a tea strainer(use new one to avoid the tea stains in) first and then strain using cloth. Store in airtight bottles under refrigeration. This milk has a shelf life in refrigerator for a week.
Don't throw away the residue, the secret is on the way :D
