Brownies!!! Ohh I have a 13 yr old memory, hearing this name for the first time or may be I would have heard it before, but was not stamped in my heart like this. Also at my home my mom, the culinary expert would prepare some or other thing everyday, so that we won't overindulge on bakery stuffs, so we had limited knowledge on all these foods. Thanks to my health conscious Mommy, I have inherited that feature from her. Whenever I am home I will make sure Gauthu gets to eat what I cook and there is no limit set for his choice, I will try out whatever he wants.
So there is a reason why the so called brownies was a news 13 years before. My expecting Sissy was at our home from the first day of her pregnancy and I cannot tell you what it feels to have her back with me after she ditched and left me on her wedding..Lol. Yeah every second child would feel this, one reason being second child is pampered by all including the bigger ones and they would be attached to them more than parents. I was feeling like, my world has come to an end when she left to her hubby's, my bro in laws home. So the right time to torture her has reached, she is back with me and that too pregnant. I can rule her now scolding her to take those yucky medicines.
One fine day she was up from bed demanding, "I need brownies!". That's when the whole family started discussing about this special man, Ahh where we can get it from? We would have had it before? may be...And my parents started asking me to help with googling to find out what there pet girl has demanded. Yeah of course her condition demands more affection, so I am fine :P
Finally after lots of research, my Dad brought home the special person from Ambrosia, that is what I remember. Ambrosia was the King of bakes then for desserts in Trivandrum. I opened the box to see a very normal, not so interesting person, almost resembling a chocolate cake. Now that I have prepared the real brownie watching YouTube channels, I know Ambrosia was mocking us then ;) Never mind. The customers were also dump then ..Lol. But whatever, as soon as it reached my Sissy just pounced on it and had most of it. And as I was not that a fan of desserts I never ever went to that side again.
So all these things came to my mind when I was preparing brownies on New Year night with my Gauthappan explaining the story to him. Good old times. My little boy was so keenly listening to the story and decided to give me company for my late night baking, as he wanted to know how much Valyamma had eaten from the box :P
