So here I am starting with my weekend recipes as my first post in 2018, Yay! it is New year. Happy New year to all my fellow beings!!! I am hoping this post would be a real motivation for all who has taken the resolution of getting fit in 2018. According to one of the sites I was browsing through, almost 70% of the New Year resolutions are about being fit, which obviously includes exercise in addition to food. But since the 80 - 20 rule in fitness is backing my primary interest, of course food!, I am taking the opportunity to help my readers to work on the 80% part of their fitness mantra.
So all weekends are special, coz that is the time, when we relax from our fast life style and where we get some "me" time. Each individual has their own priorities to finish off in these 2 days, which is quite a crazy run, and we will see how fast the 2 days has just vanished in front of our eyes. So we may indulge in our cravings, dining out and being careless on the health part of ours; which is totally fine once in a while. But think about the effort we had put the rest of the days for being slim and trim, which gets paid off in just 2 days by splurging ourselves in outside food.
So I will try myself to cook at home in weekends, and my meals would be a combination of sweet and savory dishes, which at the mean time is healthy too, and you don't have to worry much on adding that extra calories and fats, and of course, you can save the "scream" when you step on that granite piece of weighing machine the next day morning, lol. There were lot of healthy meals I explored all these while, but today I am starting with what I have prepared this week, yes its New year, no space for old stuffs, and hopefully, if my cravings won't beat me to go out and have food, I would be able to post something or the other healthy stuffs every week, or at least once in a month :P See I am not being confident, coz you know, just in a slip of moment, the plan of cooking at home can change to a outing plan which calls for having food outside, where food is the favorite part of any outings, for this foodie ;)
This week I am going to share few things which can keep you full from morning to night and stay fit and also make sure your taste buds are taken care of. A snapshot of my diet plan is like, every morning I start with a cup of lukewarm water and a green tea afterwards. Before the workouts we have to definitely give your muscles some energy, so I used to have a glass full of lemon juice with honey and a health bar which is home made.
After workouts is when I have my health drink and few soaked nuts, which is my mid breakfast. Weekdays, I will have fruit bowls and salads or veg curries through out the day till my dinner, and end up my day with some walnuts, high fibre cookies and soya milk. Yes, there is something to eat in between 2-3 hours :)

Weekends are when I make sure all other nutrients I missed over the weekdays are balanced. So the weekend lunch would have a legume curry, a stir fry, for some fats and a bread type or cereal type food.
So over to the dishes I prepared in this weekend. I made this time a savory pancake or better call it dosa, which has Ragi and Jowar flour being the main ingredients and just for the binding factor a little wheat flour. It is pan fried in a non stick tawa and thus no oil goes there. And you know millets are very good for health, as it contains lots of iron and fiber and there is no carb or gluten. Those who are in low carbs, gluten free diet should go for this pancakes for sure. You can have your choice of millet flours added though. To accompany it I made Lobia pale red type masala and potatoes are my favorite. I had some baby potatoes which I used for chilly potatoes.
See isn't it a healthy feast? So are you thinking where is the dessert? I have an answer for that. Here it is, the home made strawberry yogurt to finish it off.
Watch this space for more, as all the recipes are in my subsequent posts. Now every Monday morning you can wake up guilt free with these healthy recipe ideas, and of course, we don't have to blame the poor weighing machine anymore :D
